Welcome to,

Where the quietest voices speak the LOUDEST.

We believe nonspeaking individuals are capable, intelligent, and deserve full access to communication and autonomy. Our approach centers on supporting both spellers and their communication partners, especially parents, who play a key role in a speller’s journey to fluency. We use a strength-based, motor-focused method rooted in a deep understanding of apraxia and individual sensory-motor needs. By honouring each person’s unique profile, we guide spellers toward independent typing, while also supporting families through ongoing training and mentorship. For us, it’s not just about spelling — it’s about building a future where nonspeakers are heard, understood, and empowered to pursue their goals beyond the letterboard.

Mission.

Spelling on the boards offers a transformative communication method. By focusing on developing purposeful motor skills, this approach enables individuals to point to letters on a letterboard, facilitating effective communication.

Traditional communication methods often rely on fine motor skills such as speaking or writing. However, many individuals face challenges with these skills due to conditions like apraxia or dyspraxia, leading to misconceptions about their cognitive abilities. Spelling on the boards shifts this perspective by emphasising gross motor skills—specifically, using the elbow to point to letters—thereby providing an alternative pathway to communication.

In our sessions, we begin with a hierarchy of letterboards, starting with larger boards and gradually progressing to more refined tools like keypads. Each session is tailored to the individual's needs, focusing on building motor control, regulation, and confidence. We always presume competence and treat each individual with the respect and age-appropriate engagement they deserve. Through consistent practice and patience, individuals can unlock their ability to share thoughts, feelings, and aspirations, fostering deeper connections with their loved ones and the broader community.

A bit about me.

I am a proud sibling of a nonspeaking autistic individual who spells to communicate — and that relationship has shaped pretty much everything about who I am and what I care about.

I studied Business and Management at Durham University and started out on a more typical career path. But after seeing how powerful the Spellers Method has been for my brother, I decided to change direction completely. I moved to San Diego for a year to train under Dawnmarie Gaivin, one of the founders of Spellers Method, to become a Spellers Method Practitioner myself.

Now, I’m focused on helping nonspeakers access reliable communication and be fully seen for who they are. My background in business helps, but it’s my experience as a sibling that really drives what I do.

Zoom Sessions

For families unable to consistently travel to our clinic, we offer virtual coaching sessions via Zoom. These sessions, available after an initial in-person assessment, focus on empowering parents with strategies to support their child's communication journey using the Spellers Method. While in-person sessions are recommended for optimal progress, our virtual coaching offers a flexible alternative to continue progress at home.
